The socio-cultural organization Byatikram is set to commemorate the death anniversary of renowned music composer Sachin Dev Burman on October 28, 2024, at the Pragjyoti ITA Center in Machkhowa, Guwahati. Supported by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Tripura, the event will commence at 5 PM.
A key feature of the evening will be the presentation of the “S D Burman Memorial Byatikram Lifetime Achievement Award 2024” to Assam’s beloved musical icon, Zubeen Garg. Expressing his gratitude, Garg remarked, “Like Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Sachin Dev Burman is the pride of the North East. It is an honor for any artist to receive an award in his name.”
The event will also welcome esteemed guests, including Telangana’s Governor, former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, and Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha. A cultural showcase will feature performances from notable artists and a special dance led by Champa Chakraborty, celebrating the music of Burman.
Dr. Saumen Bharatiya, President of Byatikram, emphasized the event’s role in strengthening cultural ties between Assam and Tripura, inviting all to attend this free celebration of music and heritage.
