BSF Seized 57 Ton of Dry Pea and 511 Cattles in September month.

While smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh Border had reduced considerably after the lockdown was imposed in the month of march. The recent huge seizure made by Border Security Force indicate a sharp increase in smuggling especially cattle and dry pea.

   During the month of September 2020 alone BSF seized 57,100 kg of dry pea worth more than 56 lakhs and 511 cattle head worth more than 79 lakhs in East Khasi Hills, South Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills, while being smuggled from Bangladesh to India.

Sh. U K Nayal, DIG/PRO FTR HQ BSF. said that, “as anticipated there has been increased in smuggling  as  lockdown eased   and further shoot up in  smuggling in coming months is expected. BSF troops deployed on international Border are tirelessly doing their duties despite harsh weather condition  and corona outbreak. He seeked co-operation from civil authorities and Police in curbing cross Border smuggling in the State.
