The Blenders Pride Fashion Tour concluded its 2025 edition in Kolkata on Friday night, unveiling a groundbreaking interpretation of Indian craft. Staged against the iconic Howrah Bridge and set atop the Hooghly River, the finale showcased designer Anamika Khanna’s experimental AK|OK collection, with actor Ishaan Khatter as showstopper.
In collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the showcase challenged traditional notions of craftsmanship by dismantling familiar vocabularies such as zardozi, chikankari and mirror work. These elements were reimagined through futuristic tailoring, metallic details and cosmic-inspired visuals. The event unfolded on a barge transformed into a floating stage, complete with divers, scaffolding, lasers and speedboat entries, culminating in Khatter’s dramatic arrival. For Kolkata, the presentation marked a moment of cultural pride. The Hooghly riverfront, long associated with colonial heritage and maritime trade, became a symbol of modern reinvention. Guests were hosted on The Bengal Paddle vessel, featuring a Riverine Museum chronicling the river’s history; a setting that framed fashion as part of the city’s evolving cultural economy.
Debasree Dasgupta, CMO, Pernod Ricard India, said the tour shaped conversations around fashion and culture. Designer Anamika Khanna said the reinterpretation of heritage was “truly exhilarating,” while Khatter called the experience “exciting.” FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi said the collaboration set the pace for what’s next in Indian fashion.
