BJP win, threat to democracy says Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Assam to address a rally in support of TMC members ahead of Lok Sabha elections. During the rally, Banerjee accused BJP for CAA implementation and alleged a threat to democracy if BJP comes into power again.

Banerjee said, “If the INDIA bloc wins, there will not be the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Uniform Civil Code. We will repeal all discriminatory laws.”

Banerjee promises Assam to remove National Register of Citizens (NRC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Uniform Civil Code (UCC) if INDIA Bloc emerges into victorious.

Additionally, the Lok Sabha elections in Assam will be held in three phases beginning April 19 and counting of votes will be on June 4.
