BJP team visits STNM Hospital over job concerns

Amid rising concerns over the job regularisation process at STNM Hospital, a delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by senior party leader Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, visited the hospital on Thursday to clarify issues and calm the growing anxiety among staff members. The visit followed reports that several hospital employees were worried about unverified rumours suggesting that political influence or high-level references were needed for their contractual jobs to be regularised. These rumours had reportedly created confusion and distress among many workers.

In a bid to understand the concerns directly, the BJP team held discussions with hospital authorities and affected staff members. After thoroughly reviewing the issue, the delegation issued a clear message: the regularisation of jobs in Sikkim is governed strictly by the Sikkim Services Rules, and no external or political recommendation is necessary.“There is an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel (DoP) around a year ago which clearly outlines the criteria. The process is entirely rule-based and transparent,” said a BJP representative during the interaction. “Employees should not fall prey to misinformation or feel compelled to seek political help.”

The BJP team also urged the concerned government departments to improve communication with employees to avoid the spread of rumours. They emphasized that poor dissemination of official information could not only lead to confusion but also expose workers to exploitation.“Proper awareness and clear official guidance are essential to ensure employees know their rights and follow the correct procedures,” added the delegation.
