BJP Strengthens Base in Rongkhang with New Entrants

In a key political development ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, around 400 Hindi-speaking leaders, workers and supporters joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Karbi Anglong district.The joining programme was held at the party’s district office in Ghelani, Donkamokam. Several senior BJP leaders were present at the event. Among them were Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and BJP candidate from the 111-Rongkhang Legislative Assembly Constituency, and district BJP president Radip Ronghang. All the new members are said to be voters from the Rongkhang constituency, where polling is scheduled as part of the upcoming Assembly elections.

The group was led by Dilip Chauhan, who had earlier contested as an Independent candidate from the Kopili constituency in the 2022 Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections. Along with him, a large number of people from the Hindi-speaking community decided to extend their support to the BJP.Speaking at the event, Chauhan described the move as a “new beginning.” He said that the group has faith in the party’s leadership and its work. He also said they would work to strengthen the party at the grassroots level in the coming days.Many of those who joined said they were influenced by the development work carried out by the BJP-led government. They also expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The event also saw the presence of leaders like Nandji Yadav and Abraham Terang, who supported the joining programme and welcomed the new members into the party.BJP leaders present at the event said the large number of people joining the party shows growing public support. They said the party is working towards development, peace and stability in the region.
