Narendra Modi arrived in Assam on the night of March 31 to begin an intensive campaign push ahead of the Assembly elections, now just a week away. The Prime Minister landed at Dibrugarh airport at around 9:00 pm and stayed overnight at Manohari Resorts in Mohanbari. His visit comes at a crucial time as the election campaign enters its final phase, with political parties stepping up outreach efforts across the state. Modi, who is also a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is scheduled to address two major public rallies on April 1 in support of party candidates.
The first rally will take place at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district at 11 am. This region falls under an important electoral zone where the BJP is looking to strengthen its hold. Party leaders said preparations have been made for a large gathering, with supporters expected to arrive from nearby areas including Dhemaji and Lakhimpur. After the Gogamukh rally, the Prime Minister will travel to Behali in Biswanath district to address a second public meeting at 1 pm. This rally is considered politically significant as it targets voters from three key constituencies — Biswanath, Behali, and Gohpur. These seats are being closely watched in the ongoing election, and the BJP is focusing on consolidating support in this belt.
According to party sources, both rallies are expected to draw large crowds as the BJP intensifies its campaign efforts in Upper Assam. Local leaders and party workers have been mobilising support for the Prime Minister’s visit over the past few days.
