The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, convened a high-level meeting on November 29 to chart out strategies for engaging Assamese Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in fostering cultural, economic, and educational collaborations. The party outlined plans to establish robust frameworks for connecting with the Assamese diaspora, leveraging their expertise and resources to contribute to the state’s development. Emphasizing the importance of global community ties, discussions explored avenues for international partnerships, including solutions to cross-border challenges with neighboring Bangladesh. Key opportunities in education and employment were identified to provide Assamese youth with global exposure.
To enhance outreach, two dedicated committees were formed. One, led by Hitesh Kalita, Manoj Kumar Das, and Ishantor Sobhapandit, will manage social media accounts to boost international engagement. The second, under Dr. Budhin Gogoi, Ravi Agarwal, Jayanta Talukdar, and Anshuman Das, will distribute newsletters highlighting BJP’s initiatives and achievements. A separate team, comprising members like Bhavani Sarmah (USA) and Bipul Das (Guwahati), will create a database of Assamese individuals and organizations abroad, ensuring streamlined communication and collaboration.
This initiative underscores BJP Assam Pradesh’s vision of strengthening ties with the diaspora, channeling their goodwill and contributions toward Assam’s socio-economic progress. The party aims to bridge the gap between NRIs and their homeland, fostering growth and cultural unity.
