Birla Fertility & IVF Howrah marks two years, expands structured reproductive care access

Birla Fertility & IVF Centre in Howrah has completed two years of providing structured and clinically reliable fertility care, supporting couples through comprehensive reproductive evaluation, transparent counselling, and individualised treatment planning. Part of the CKA Birla Group, Birla Fertility & IVF operates two additional fertility centres in Kolkata alongside its Howrah facility, strengthening access to standardised reproductive care across the metropolitan region.

The centre has observed a growing number of couples seeking fertility treatment later in life, often in their late forties, reflecting changing social trends such as late marriages and delayed parenthood. These cases frequently involve age-related concerns like low ovarian reserve and reduced egg quality, highlighting the need for timely screening and informed medical guidance. Dr. Sonali Mandal Bandyopadhyay, Centre Head of Birla Fertility & IVF Howrah, said many couples now plan families later due to professional and financial priorities. She noted that while assisted reproductive technologies provide effective options, biological age remains a critical factor, making structured evaluation and clear counselling essential for patients.

A recent case involved a couple aged 48 and 53 who approached the centre shortly after marriage. Medical evaluation revealed an extremely low AMH level of 0.01, indicating diminished ovarian reserve. After detailed counselling, the couple opted for a donor IVF programme. With careful medical optimisation, phased treatment planning, and close clinical supervision, embryo transfer was performed successfully, resulting in a healthy pregnancy. The centre caters to patients across Howrah district and nearby areas including Shibpur, Salkia, Belur, Liluah, Santragachi, Ramrajatala, and Bally. It treats a wide range of infertility conditions such as low AMH, tubal blockage, endometriosis, azoospermia, and other age-related reproductive challenges. Services offered include IUI, IVF, and ICSI procedures, egg freezing, management of PCOD and ovarian cysts, treatment for irregular periods, fertility care related to cervical cancer, and treatment for conditions such as low sperm count, varicocele, and tube blockage. In Howrah, the centre’s expansion reflects a rising demand for organised fertility services in the district and surrounding urban clusters. With increasing awareness about assisted reproductive technologies and improved accessibility through structured treatment packages, transparent cost discussions, multi-cycle programmes, and 0% EMI options, the fertility care segment is gradually becoming more accessible to patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in the Howrah healthcare market.

The two-year milestone underscores the centre’s continued focus on clinical standardisation, accessibility, and patient-centred reproductive care in the region.
