Bingo! Tedhe Medhe has unveiled a special tribute to Bengali rock music this Durga Puja with the release of the song ‘Rockanjali.’ Composed and performed by iconic Bengali rock musicians Siddhartha Sankar Roy (Siddhu), Avijit Burman (Pota) from Cactus, Gaurab Chatterjee (Gabu) from Lakkhichara, and Anindya Chatterjee from Chandrabindoo, the song celebrates the 50-year legacy of Bengali rock while emphasizing friendship and bonding, themes central to the Puja festivities.
In addition to the song, Bingo! Tedhe Medhe launched the ‘Rockanjali’ contest, inviting young musicians to showcase their talent. Over 120 students from Kolkata’s colleges entered, with 15 finalists set to perform at major Durga Puja pandals. As part of the celebrations, a unique ‘Concert on Wheels’ tour will visit six iconic pandals across the city from Chaturthi to Navami, bringing live performances of Bangla rock.
Guwahati, known for its vibrant youth culture, is expected to resonate with this Puja-themed initiative, as consumers in the city often seek fresh, youth-driven content. The song’s tribute to Bengali rock may inspire similar creative expressions in Guwahati’s musical scene during festive seasons. Anindya Chatterjee from Chandrabindoo remarked, “Bengali rock reflects our emotions and friendships, and ‘Rockanjali’ is a tribute to its legacy.”
