The 9-day Bhairav Ashtami Festival, guided by National Saint Dr. Vasant Vijay Ji Maharaj, Peethadhishwar of Parshva Padmavati Shakti Peeth Dham, Krishngiri, Tamil Nadu, has achieved global recognition with two extraordinary world records. The festival’s highlight was the offering of 2024 types of sweets to Lord Bhairav, a feat that will be recorded by 50 renowned organizations worldwide.
Additionally, a colossal 84,000 sq. ft. Rangoli, showcasing India’s cultural heritage and honoring spiritual leaders, marked another milestone. Dr. Vasant Vijay Ji Maharaj emphasized the event’s spiritual significance, stating, “Through this celebration, we seek Lord Bhairav’s blessings to shield India from economic crises and pandemics.” The event included a daily 8-pit Mahayagna performed by 46 Kashi scholars, symbolizing intense devotion over nine uninterrupted days.
Such festivals resonate deeply in Kolkata, where cultural pride intertwines with spirituality. The city’s vibrant sweet market could draw inspiration from the diverse offerings at the festival, boosting demand for traditional and innovative sweets. Artistic endeavors like the Rangoli parallel the grandeur of Durga Puja pandals, strengthening Kolkata’s ties to India’s cultural fabric. With support from prominent leaders, including Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, the festival reflected unity and devotion, setting a global example of cultural pride.
