Bentley Systems, Incorporated, an infrastructure engineering software company, hosted Bentley Innovation Day Kolkata on Monday, bringing together infrastructure leaders, engineers, consultants, contractors and technology experts to discuss the growing role of artificial intelligence, digital engineering and connected data in infrastructure development.
The event highlighted Kolkata’s connection with STAAD, Bentley’s structural engineering solution that was originally developed in India and has since gained global adoption. The company said STAAD’s evolution reflects the engineering talent and innovation emerging from India.

The company showcased AI-enabled workflows and Model Context Protocol capabilities designed to simplify access to project information, automate repetitive tasks and support decision-making. Bentley also highlighted digital twins, connected data environments, reality modelling, AI-assisted engineering and advanced simulation across sectors including transportation, water, energy and urban infrastructure.
In Kolkata, the event underscores the city’s continuing relevance as an engineering and technology hub, particularly given its historical association with STAAD. Bentley will next take its Innovation Day series to Delhi, where it plans to engage infrastructure stakeholders on emerging digital technologies and practices.
