Bata India reports 31% rise in Q2 net profit, revenue grows 7.5%

Bata India reported a 31% year-on-year growth in profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 180 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 138 million in the corresponding quarter last year, supported by higher average selling prices (ASP).

The footwear retailer posted revenue of Rs 8,618 million in Q2FY27, registering a growth of over 7.5% against Rs 8,013 million in Q2FY26. The company said growth was recorded despite the festive calendar largely shifting to the third quarter this year.

During the quarter, Bata India reported a non-cash foreign exchange loss of Rs 30 million on licence fees due to continued currency depreciation, while Rs 39 million was incurred towards a one-time asset write-off. Other income declined by Rs 46 million following the distribution of Rs 3,213 million in surplus funds as a special dividend.

Managing Director and CEO Sanjay S. Rao, who took charge on October 1, 2026, said the company had recorded its fourth consecutive quarter of accelerating growth, supported by retail like-for-like sales and ASP growth, alongside double-digit growth in franchise and I&D channels.

The company has over 2,000 stores, including franchise outlets, and more than 3,800 KROs. Inventory freshness stood at 92%, while net stock was 7% lower year-on-year. Bata said it expects growth momentum to continue in the coming quarter, supported by festive demand and its premiumisation strategy.
