Bank of Baroda opens new Zonal Office in Guwahati to strengthen North East operations

Bank of Baroda has inaugurated a new Zonal Office in Guwahati covering the entire North Eastern region, aiming to strengthen its administrative presence and expand banking operations across Assam and neighbouring states. The bank said the move is aligned with its strategy to broaden physical infrastructure in parallel with digital banking initiatives.

The new office was inaugurated by the Managing Director and CEO Dr. Debadatta Chand in the presence of senior officials including Executive Director Beena Vaheed and North East Zonal Head Shiba Pada Nayak. Bank of Baroda said the zonal setup will support improved customer service, faster administrative decision-making and customised banking solutions for the region.

During the event, the bank also highlighted its social outreach by distributing clothes and essentials to special children at Guwahati-based facilities Kalyanai Niwas and Ashneer Home. Officials said Bank of Baroda currently operates 197 branches and three regional offices in the North East, with over 61% of its outlets located in rural and semi-urban areas.
