Bajaj General Insurance launches ‘Fetal Flourish’ rider for advanced fetal care at ₹1,025 premium

Bajaj General Insurance Limited on Tuesday announced the launch of Fetal Flourish, a pioneering insurance rider designed exclusively to support fetal health and advanced in-utero medical interventions, priced at an affordable premium of ₹1,025. Unveiled in Pune on January 14, the new rider addresses a long-standing gap in maternity insurance by covering specialised fetal procedures that are usually excluded from standard policies. The offering is available as an add-on with the insurer’s flagship products — My Health Care Plan and Health Guard — and is applicable for women aged between 18 and 45 years.

Fetal Flourish provides coverage of up to ₹2 lakh per maternity event for the first two maternity events under the base health indemnity policy, with a waiting period of nine months from policy inception. It covers 16 specialised in-utero interventions, including amniocentesis, fetoscopic laser surgery, fetal reduction, intrauterine transfusion, and procedures for neural tube defects and congenital diaphragmatic hernia. With pregnancy-related risks rising as more women give birth after the age of 35, such advanced fetal procedures have become critical but often impose heavy financial burdens on families.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Tapan Singhel, MD and CEO of Bajaj General Insurance, said the rider aims to reduce financial stress during high-risk pregnancies, allowing families to focus on treatment and outcomes. The launch marks a significant step in strengthening India’s maternal and prenatal care ecosystem by integrating modern fetal medicine with insurance protection at an early stage of life.
