Axis Max Life Insurance Limited, formerly Max Life Insurance Company Limited, on Wednesday hosted the first-ever state-level workshop on the State Insurance Plan (SIP) in Arunachal Pradesh, marking a key step toward expanding insurance awareness and access in the state. Appointed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) as the Lead Insurer (Life) for Arunachal Pradesh, the company is leading a coordinated effort to improve insurance penetration in the region. The workshop was attended by Shri Satyajit Tripathi, Member (Distribution), IRDAI, along with senior officials from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, including Karluk Ronya, Director, Accounts and Treasuries, and Nabam Rajesh, Deputy Director, Panchayati Raj. Senior representatives from Axis Max Life, including Managing Director and CEO Sumit Madan, were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Madan said the initiative aims to simplify insurance and build long-term financial security at the household level, aligned with IRDAI’s vision of “Insurance for All by 2047.” The event also saw the release of the State Insurance Plan Report 2025, outlining a roadmap to universal coverage. The workshop focused on local implementation of the “Bima Trinity” — Bima Sugam, Bima Vistar and Bima Vahak — with a special push to reach remote and underserved communities.
Developments in Arunachal Pradesh are closely tracked by insurers operating out of Guwahati, the region’s key insurance and financial hub. With Guwahati-based offices often managing Northeast operations, increased awareness and policy uptake in Arunachal are expected to generate new business opportunities, strengthen distribution networks, and reinforce Guwahati’s role as the gateway market for insurance growth across the Northeast.
