The Avani Institute of Design, Kerala, is expanding its reach in Northeast India with the introduction of the Avani Reach program. This initiative is aimed at nurturing young design enthusiasts interested in architecture, design, and visual arts, particularly from the Northeastern states. As the demand for architecture education rises across the region, the Institute is taking proactive steps to engage directly with local students.
The Avani Reach program, set to launch in 2025, will visit several cities in the Northeast, including Gangtok. The program, already successful in cities like Bangalore, Trivandrum, and Dubai, seeks to inspire high school and higher secondary students to explore architecture as a tool for creative expression and community development. According to Ar. Tony Joseph, Chairman of Avani Institute, “There’s an undeniable creative energy in the Northeast, and we’re excited to engage with it more closely.” The Institute is also accepting applications for its five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) program for the 2025–26 academic year, with 80 seats available. The program combines architectural theory, studio learning, and environmental studies, preparing students to tackle cultural and ecological challenges.
Gangtok, a burgeoning hub for educational and career-driven aspirations, stands to benefit from this initiative. With an increasing number of students in the region looking to pursue careers in design and architecture, Avani’s programs offer a promising gateway for them to pursue their passions at a nationally recognized institute.
