Retail inflation upsurge to 2.07% in August; food prices remain in deflationary territory

Core retail inflation rose marginally to 2.07% in August 2025 from 1.61% in July, well within the Reserve Bank of India's target range, according to official data released on Friday. The RBI has been directed not to allow inflation to rise beyond its tolerance range of 2%-6% for more than three consecutive quarters. New Delhi, Guarseed prices rose by Rs 18 to Rs 5,073 per quintal in futures trade on Wednesday as speculators increased the size of their deals amid a firm trend in the spot market. Guarseed contract for October delivery rose by Rs 18 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 5,073 per quintal on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange in which 45,990 lots were traded.
