India's premier medical research agency the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) wants to launch its COVID-19 vaccine 'Covaxin' by August 15 in partnership with Bharat Biotech International Limited. The institutes have been asked by the ICMR to step up clinical trials as it is a "priority project" monitored at the topmost level of the government. New Delhi: An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 on Richter Scale struck parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region on Friday evening, said the National Center for Seismology. No damage or any kind of injury has been reported so far. Epicentre of the earthquake was 63 km southwest (SW) of Gurgaon in Haryana around 7 pm on Friday, forcing the people to rush out of their homes. Delhi-NCR has witnessed several earthquakes over the past three months. The dozens of earthquakes that have jolted the Delhi-NCR in the recent months have created panic among the people. Following much uproar, Inspector Sridhar, Sub-Inspector Balakrishnan and constable Murugan were arrested in the wee hours on Thursday, by CB-CID under IPC 302 (murder) in connection with the custodial deaths of Jeyaraj and Beniks in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi. The CB-CID which took over the case on 1 July arrested Sub-Inspector Raghuganesh late last night. Constable Muthuraj has been held by the police but his name has not been added to the first information report (FIR) yet.

A moderate-intensity earthquake hit Katra in Jammu and Kashmir today. The quake, measuring 3.6 on the Richter Scale, occurred at 14.02 hours. No immediate reports of casualties or damage has been reported so far.  This afternoon, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck 119 kilometers north-northwest of Kargil, Ladakh as well. The tremors were felt at 13.11 hours.  On Tuesday too, an earthquake with magnitude 4.0 on the Richter Scale struck 84 kms east of Katra at 8.56 am. 

As many as 28 ministers took oath on Thursday, 2 July, to be part of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, months after it came to power by toppling the previous Congress government. Among those who have taken oath as Cabinet ministers at Raj Bhawan in Bhopal include Gopal Bhargava, Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Imarti Devi, Prabhuram Choudhary and Pradhuman Singh Tomar.
