Aswini Kumar, the Zoo DFO, announced that the Assam State Zoo has received a blackbuck and a blue-and-gold macaw from the New Delhi Zoo in an exchange programme. The exchange programme aims to enhance conservation efforts and enrich genetic diversity between the two zoos. The animals were brought to Guwahati by road, and Aswini Kumar ensured their smooth acclimatization to the new environment. The blue-and-gold macaw is a popular large parrot.
