Union Health and Family Welfare minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Wednesday inaugurated the new library and informatics centre at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Guwahati. Accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Nadda reached the hospital complex and unveiled the centre here in Sonitpur district. Nadda is on a day-long tour to Assam to take part in a series of official programmes.

Assam Police seized 11,100 bottles of Codeine-based cough syrup worth Rs two crore from a vehicle near Damcherra in the Cachar district of the state on Friday. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a post on X that Cachar Police conducted the anti-narcotics operation based on credible intelligence.  "Based on credible intelligence, an anti-narcotics operation was conducted by @Cachar Police near Damcherra where a vehicle transporting illegal substances was intercepted. IGL, MGL shares rose as government asks GAIL and ONGC to give 0.6 mmscmd gas to city gas firms

Shares of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) jumped up to 2.5% on January 3 after the oil ministry asked GAIL and ONGC to give 0.6 mmscmd gas to city gas firms. The circular said gas from new wells and oil-associated gas will not be auctioned but will be allocated proportionately to companies based on volume.
