Assam: Over 55 companies offer job opportunities to 1,000 ex-defence personnel at job fair

More than 1,500 job openings and 250 entrepreneurship opportunities were offered by government agencies and private companies to former defence personnel at a special job fair in Guwahati on Friday. The job fair for ex-servicemen at Narangi cantonment here was attended by over 1,000 retired personnel of army, navy and air force from Assam and nearby regions, seeking employment opportunities, a defence spokesperson said. Apollo Tyres' Q3 FY25 net profit fell 32.1% to ₹337.2 crore from ₹497 crore in the same period a year ago, also below CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹378 crore. Assam cabinet approves draft VAT amendment rules to regulate import of taxable goods

The Assam cabinet on Wednesday approved the Draft Assam Value Added Tax (Amendment) Rules aimed at monitoring the movement of taxable goods entering the state. The new rules will impose restrictions and conditions on the import of goods via road, rail, river, air, or post, public health and engineering minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said. The cabinet meeting, presided by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, also approved the draft Assam Urban Water Bodies (Preservation and Conservation) Rules, 2025 for preparation of district level schedule of public waterbodies.
