Recently, the eviction drive allegedly witnessed clashes between protesters and police personnel. Security forces used batons to control protesters who threw stones at them. According to sources, Pawan Hans Limited will start services between Dibrugarh-Jorhat-Tezpur-Guwahati-Tezpur-Jorhat-Dibrugarh three days a week. 3,500 more arrested; Child marriage crackdown

The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) reports on child marriage that an average of 32 per cent of registered marriages in Assam are within the prohibited age. Also according to the 2019-21 survey, 11.7 percent of women aged 15-19 were already mothers or pregnant at the time of the survey. The Assam chief minister said they have identified more than 8,000 people who married minor girls.
