On February 25, a robbery was foiled near No. 1 Dhansirikhuti Daifang village under Rowta police station of Udalguri.  A man was encountered during the movement. According to the sources, accused is identified as Kenaram Basumatary. To a inquiry it is claimed that he is suppose to be the wrong man encountered. Assam Chief Minister asked the Director-General of Police, G.P. Singh, to ensure the completion of the probe within two weeks. GP Singh to initiate a CID inquiry to ascertain the details.

The order was issued to seal all cross borders for 72 hours from February 25 to February 27 as per standard operating procedures of the Election Commission of India. Despite the sealing of the border, people of Dimapur continued to shop at Sunday Market, Dilai Gate, Karbi Anglong Assam to procure their daily needs. Vehicles are not allowed in Assam. On Saturday, an Army officer was arrested for allegedly being involved in a woman’s murder case he was posted as Public Relation Officer at Tezpur-based 4th Corps. The accused is identified as Lt. Col Amrinder Singh Walia from Punjab and the deceased is identified as Bandana Shree hailed from Tamil Nadu. According to the reports, the officer was for a long time relationship with the woman. The body was dumped near NH 31 in a plastic bag. The body was recovered from Changsari in Kamrup district on February 15.

Three months ago, people in Assam-Meghalaya clashed in Mukroh village when Assam forest guards intercepted a truck transporting illegally cut timber. Five residents of Meghalaya and a forest guard from Assam were killed during the violent clashes. Residents of Mukroh village are demanding to indulge in dancing and cheering in the election rally ahead of assembly polls on February 27. Mukroh falls under Mookaiaw assembly constituency in West Jaintia Hills district of East Meghalaya. On Thursday, Congress leader Pawan Khera was arrested by the Assam Police from the Delhi airport for filing an FIR against Assam. Earlier, the Congress leader had also made some alleged comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Khera was brought to Assam after his arrest, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma claimed that Khera had apologized for his offensive remarks against Prime Minister Modi. “The majesty of law shall always prevail. On Friday, five people lives ended as they met with an accident near Balipara in Assam's Sontipur district. According to the reports, the incident occurred due the vehicle they were travelling lost control and crashed into a roadside ditch and they were on the way to Tezpur. Further for now deceased identities are not recognized as their bodies are sent for post-mortem. Police are investigating also some other people were injured during the incident. They are shifted to the nearby hospital.

On Monday night, a drunken youth cuts off his friend’s head after an argument. The incident took place on Jorhat, Assam dibrugarh district. The accused is identified as Lohit Gogoi and the victim is identified as Ratul Saura Alias Fai. According to the reports, both were drinking together at the former’s house. Soon there was as argument between the youths which caused the incident. Lohit chopped off his friend’s head due to the argument. On Thrusday, Congress leader Pawan Khera got arrested at Delhi airport. He was on the flight to Chhattisgarh and soon he was deplaned on request of Assam Police, on the way to Delhi. “We have requested Delhi police to arrest him (Pawan Khera). Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi, accused of anti-CAA protests and suspected Maoist links, was granted release by the Supreme Court and sought a response from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on his plea. A bench of Justices V Ramasubramanian and Pankaj Mittal on Tuesday ordered after hearing the arguments of senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi, appearing for the lawmaker, that Akhil Gogoi be protected against the FIR dated December 14, 2019.
