On Wednesday, The Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union (APMU) has announced for a strike in Assam. The date is schedule from 4th March. According to the reports, the strike is for demanding higher remuneration and other statutory benefits. Also the workers will stop loading and unloading at seven LPG plants in Assam -- six owned by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and one by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). Due to the strike there will be shortage of fuel in retail market.

During robbery incident a man was encountered identifying him a decoit, but according to some enquiry news flashed out that it was a wrong man. News of HS Chemistry exam paper leaked was circulated on social media. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said the news is fake and baseless through. Education Minister through his official account clarified the rumours, he tweeted,” The news of Chemistry question paper leak in the current HS examination is completely fake and baseless. I have personally checked the matter. We are taking utmost care and maintaining vigilance. Please don’t heed fake news and rumours.” Also AHSEC official website claimed it to be fake news.

On February 25, a robbery was foiled near No. 1 Dhansirikhuti Daifang village under Rowta police station of Udalguri.  A man was encountered during the movement. According to the sources, accused is identified as Kenaram Basumatary. To a inquiry it is claimed that he is suppose to be the wrong man encountered. The order was issued to seal all cross borders for 72 hours from February 25 to February 27 as per standard operating procedures of the Election Commission of India. On Saturday, an Army officer was arrested for allegedly being involved in a woman’s murder case he was posted as Public Relation Officer at Tezpur-based 4th Corps. The accused is identified as Lt. Col Amrinder Singh Walia from Punjab and the deceased is identified as Bandana Shree hailed from Tamil Nadu. According to the reports, the officer was for a long time relationship with the woman. The body was dumped near NH 31 in a plastic bag. The body was recovered from Changsari in Kamrup district on February 15.

Three months ago, people in Assam-Meghalaya clashed in Mukroh village when Assam forest guards intercepted a truck transporting illegally cut timber. Five residents of Meghalaya and a forest guard from Assam were killed during the violent clashes. Residents of Mukroh village are demanding to indulge in dancing and cheering in the election rally ahead of assembly polls on February 27. Mukroh falls under Mookaiaw assembly constituency in West Jaintia Hills district of East Meghalaya. On Thursday, Congress leader Pawan Khera was arrested by the Assam Police from the Delhi airport for filing an FIR against Assam.
