Shortage of fuel in Assam from 4th March

On Wednesday, The Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union (APMU) has announced for a strike in Assam. The date is schedule from 4th March. According to the reports, the strike is for demanding higher remuneration and other statutory benefits. Also the workers will stop loading and unloading at seven LPG plants in Assam -- six owned by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and one by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). Due to the strike there will be shortage of fuel in retail market.

On February 25, a robbery was foiled near No. 1 Dhansirikhuti Daifang village under Rowta police station of Udalguri.  A man was encountered during the movement. According to the sources, accused is identified as Kenaram Basumatary. To a inquiry it is claimed that he is suppose to be the wrong man encountered. On Saturday, an Army officer was arrested for allegedly being involved in a woman’s murder case he was posted as Public Relation Officer at Tezpur-based 4th Corps. The accused is identified as Lt. Col Amrinder Singh Walia from Punjab and the deceased is identified as Bandana Shree hailed from Tamil Nadu. According to the reports, the officer was for a long time relationship with the woman. Three months ago, people in Assam-Meghalaya clashed in Mukroh village when Assam forest guards intercepted a truck transporting illegally cut timber. Five residents of Meghalaya and a forest guard from Assam were killed during the violent clashes.
