‘Gunotsav 2023’ which took place from January 18 to February 18 results were released on Monday by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The evaluation scheme covered 44,531 schools and 41,35,163 (96.69 per cent) students in all 31 districts, Assam. However, the exercise has shown improvement this year compared to 2022, with the number of schools placed in the highest A+ grade category increasing and those in the lowest category going down. On Wednesday, a shocking incident took place here against an elderly man in dhubri district, Assam. The actual incident took place on Tuesday, according to the sources. A senior Police officer reported that, an elderly man was killed by his own sons due to family dispute. The deceased identified as Sopiyal Ali from Saslapura village. After the incident the accused trio fled away, now the police of the district launched a manhunt to nab the accused persons.

On Sunday, Amritpal Singh was brought to Dibrugarh, Assam and currently he is taken to Central Jail. According to the sources, he was brought to Assam in a special flight from Bathinda. Earlier, Amritpal was arrested by Punjab police from Rode village in the northern state and now he is brought to Assam and kept under tight security.  Nine of his associates are presently lodged at Dibrugarh Central Jail adding Amritpal Singh now. On Monday, Siksha Setu Asom Portal App was launched to collect information about schools, teachers, students and other information in Assam. The app was launched under Assam Government and Education Assam Minister Ranoj Pegu gave a brief description regarding the app in a statement. According the reports, from 24 the App will be started. According to recent updates, Tinsukia district of Assam has been facing heavy hailstorm and thunderstorm, affecting people’s lives and houses, facing power cuts due to falling of trees and many more. On Sunday, Met department warned of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds in Assam and its neighboring areas over the next two days. Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued ‘yellow’ category warning to Assam and its neighboring states. As per their reports, a cyclonic circulation is lying over east Assam and neighborhood between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level.

On Saturday, Assam Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta was expelled from the primary membership of the Congress for six years. Gauhati High Court has slammed Assam Govt Himanta Biswa Sarma for not making adequate arrangements for evictees in Assam by calling it “inhumanity of the highest order”. Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta told the Assam government advocate D. On Thursday, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and signed an agreement, MoU for oil exploration in the disputed areas of the region for economical benefits.
