Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) is activated in Assam. AFSPA is specially imposed for disturbed areas in state with powers like search, arrest and to open fire if they deem it necessary, without a magistrate’s permission, for “the maintenance of public order.” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced to uplift this special power from the districts of Assam by November, 2023. On Monday, The Assam Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) released the Class 10, HSLC examination results. Now, some sources circulated news about Assam HS result to be released today. Ranoj Pegu, State Education Minister soon announced Assam HS results date is not today, the news is fake. Six ethnic communities from Assam were demanding ST status since few months in the state. The communities were the tea tribes, Chutia, Koch-Rajbongshi, Matak, Moran, and Tai-Ahom. There were several protests by the community in the state but the grant for the status got delayed. The six ethnic groups are currently identified as OBCs in the state. As Assam Anti-Corruption wing are in an operation since last few months to end corruption in the state. Many govt. officials are caught red handed accepting bribe from the needy. Now, Minakshi Kakoti Kalita, an Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, was caught red handed in a trap laid by officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption worth more than Rs. 65 lakhs was recovered. Report says that the Govt officer was demanding bribe from a person for some GST related work.  Later the anti-corruption team raided the officer house and recovered cash of Rs 65,37,500.

On Friday, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Inland Waterways Authority of India, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt of India, Sagarmala Development Company Limited (SDCL), Assam Tourism Development Corp.
