As Assam Anti-Corruption wing are in an operation since last few months to end corruption in the state. Many govt. officials are caught red handed accepting bribe from the needy. Now, Minakshi Kakoti Kalita, an Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, was caught red handed in a trap laid by officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption worth more than Rs. 65 lakhs was recovered. Report says that the Govt officer was demanding bribe from a person for some GST related work.  Later the anti-corruption team raided the officer house and recovered cash of Rs 65,37,500.

On Friday, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Inland Waterways Authority of India, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt of India, Sagarmala Development Company Limited (SDCL), Assam Tourism Development Corp. A FIR for sexual harassment was filed against swimming Coach Mrinal Basumatary by Athletes of the SAI Training Centre. According to the reports, the complaint was filed in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, Assam. Also most of the Athletes were minor girls stated by Sports Authority of India (SAI). On Sunday, 21 May Guwahati Tea Auction has completed 200 years since its establishment in the state. Tomorrow the centre is about to celebrate its 200 years for Assam Tea in Assam. According to the sources, Guwahati Tea Auction centre is going to celebrate its 200 years completion with GTAC Tea Lounge and has also lined up many program for the event. A Congress leader has filed a defamation case against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Uttarakhand Court. The case was filed against the Assam CM before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (3rd) Nadeem Ahmad during a hearing on May 15 in Uttarakhand and next hearing will be on June 3. As per the complaint, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made indecent remarks against party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in 2022 while campaigning for Uttarakhand Assembly polls.
