Chief Minister changes his Twitter bio, amidst opposition alliance, Assam

The opposition camp finalized its coalition name "INDIA," which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. After the finalization Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma removed "India" from his Twitter bio and added "Bharat" to it. Along with it Sarma tweeted, “The British named our country as India. We must strive to free ourselves from colonial legacies. Our forefathers fought for Bharat, and we will continue to work for Bharat." According to the sources, earlier Assam CM old Twitter bio read, “Chief Minister of Assam, India” now has been changed to "Chief Minister of Assam, BHARAT."

Assam flood situation death toll rises

On Tuesday, Assam flood situation was updated by Assam Disaster Management Authority in which death toll reached to 8, from Sonitpur district, Assam. According to the official reports, a total of 1, 11, 258 persons in the districts of Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, and Sonitpur remain affected by the floods. Also a total of 91, 797 domestic animals have also been impacted by the floodwaters. Flood situation in the state, Assam has not yet decreased due to continuous rain affecting people, food, animals, construction etc.
