Two new post re-designated for Assam tourism services

In a recent Cabinet meeting, the Assam Government has approved an amendment to re-designate two new posts for tourism services in Assam. According to the amendment, the post of ‘Tourist Information Officer’ will be renamed as ‘Tourism Development Officer’ and the post of ‘Assistant Tourist Information Officer’ will be changed to ‘Assistant Tourism Development Officer.’ Additionally, Tourism Development Officer will reflect the wider scope of duties beyond providing information. On the other hand, Assistant Tourism Development Officer will acknowledge the dynamic nature of the job, involving active participation in the growth of the tourism sector.

On Wednesday, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has announced new regulation regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test qualification for the candidates. According to the sources, it has been decided that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) will no longer be required for Graduate Teachers (GT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) of Secondary Schools. And for the Graduate and Post-Graduate Teachers will have to appear in separate examination which is newly introduced by the Assam Government, TET-cum-Recruitment Test.

On Tuesday, officials informed about Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be spending 15 days in rural area along with his Cabinet Ministers. According to the sources, the program is initiated to take stock of the ground situation of the state government’s beneficiary schemes and development work. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Cabinet Ministers will shift to the selected rural area on October 1 to 15 October, 2023. Later, the Assam government has decided to send its council of ministers, MPs, MLAs and select top government officials to the villages for a period of two weeks.

The Government of Assam has issued a notification regarding reshuffle of senior officers in Assam, it includes transfer and re-appointment for Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL). As per reports, AEGCL has appointed new Chairman from the notification issued by the Assam Government. The reshuffle was done between Senior Officers IAS and ACS. IAS officer Maninder Singh, who was the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Sports and Youth Welfare, Cooperation, and Tourism Departments, has been appointed as the Chairman of Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL). 300 youths trained to handle arms

A video was surfaced over the internet where 300 youths were trained to handle arms organized a camp by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal in Assam‘s Mangaldai town. According to the video, the youths were trained to handle guns and other weapons at the four-day camp in the Maharishi Vidya Mandir School in Mangaldai, started from July 27, 2023. The arms camp was organized without Assam Police permission and Assam Govermemnt. Assam DGP G.P. Singh through a tweet said, “Instructed to register a case under appropriate sections of law & investigate the matter and take lawful action”.

On Friday, during an event with Assam Police across the state along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was organized in Bongaigaon where CM asked Assam Police to formulate rules for investigation against ‘Love Jihad’ in the state, Assam. “Love jihad” is a Hindutva idea that Muslim men lure Hindu women into romantic relationships in order to convert them to Islam through marriage. The Union home ministry has told parliament that “love Jihad” is not defined under Indian laws.
