Assam Chief Minister updates on reservation of seats for students

During a cabinet meeting, chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma a decision was taken to reserve seats for 5 communities of Assam in ITI. According to the sources, 3.24% seats will be reserved for students under OBC quota in Industrial Training Institutions (ITIs). The communities are Ahom, Moran, Matak, Chutia and Koch-Rajbongshi.  Sarma shared the update on Twitter, he said  a total of 786 seats, representing 3.24 per cent, have been reserved under the Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ MOBC (More OBC) for students from the Ahom, Moran, Matak, Chutia and Koch-Rajbongshi communities. Assam has been witnessing surge of tigers in the state, Assam since last year.  Recently, a report was released in government data on International Tiger Day about the numbers of tigers the state is serving. As per the report, Assam currently has 227 tigers. According to earlier reports, in the year 2006 Assam had 70 tigers, the figure rose to 143 in 2010.
