Teacher’s casuals wear seems to be unacceptable in some situation. Therefore, Assam’s higher educational institutes have been asked to avoid casual wear such as T-shirts, jeans, and leggings during their duties. According to the sources, the notification was issued by the State Government on August 14, 2023 as such attire does not appear to be fit while discharging their duties. On Sunday, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam rolled out Digi Yatra facility for its passengers and this new initiative is launched for the first time in Northeast region. On Saturday, a Dhemaji College’s Principal was surfed over the internet consuming alcohol with four other persons inside the campus. The college students' union and RSS-affiliated student organisation ABVP staged a protest after the video of the college Principal Dipak Kr. Neog video went viral claiming that their actions violated the purity of the learning environment. Further, a senior government official of the education department said that they are looking into the matter.

Assam Police seized 61,000 bottles of banned cough syrup from a truck in Assam. The bottles had a market value of Rs. 4 crore. According to the sources, the incident took place in the Churaibari area of Assam’s Karimganj district near the border with Tripura on August 17. Police said, “Our operation against drugs is going on. Last night, we intercepted a truck. We have recovered and seized 61,000 banned cough syrup bottles from the truck. We also apprehended the driver of the truck. The market value of the seized cough syrup bottles is estimated at around Rs 4 crore.”

On Thursday, Assam’s Cachar police arrested two persons for mocking journalists and spreading fake news on social media platforms. According to the reports, the arrested are identified as Muhim Uddin and Eyadul Hussain, both residents of Pangram. The duo had opened a page on Facebook a few years back and used it to upload and spread fake news.  Also both of them use to threaten the local businessmen and others in the name of their news portal and extort money from them.

On Tuesday, 43-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Cachar district BJP office in Assam. According to the investigation by the Police, the dead body is identified as Sudhangshu Das, was found dead inside the VIP room of the office located in the Itkhola area of Silchar town. On Wednesday, August 16, President Droupadi Murmu gave her final nod to the Election Commission’s final delimitation order on the parliamentary and assembly constituencies in Assam. On August 11, final delimitation was published by Election Commission for 14 parliamentary and 14 assembly constituencies in Assam. Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, “Despite serious questions raised by the Supreme Court in the ongoing case is another example of BJP’s brute authoritarianism.
