On Thursday, 15 people from Hailakandi district were arrested allegedly for preparing fake documents to conduct child marriage. As per reports, the news came into light after an operation was launched in different parts of the district for conducting child marriages. The arrested one are identified as Panchgram, Katlicherra, Algapur, Lala, Ramnathpur and Bilaipur areas of the district, Hailankandi. As per sources, these accused could not provide essential evidence for the marriages. Also the arrested one are about to produce in the court for fake documents and conducting marriage illegally.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as earlier promised to remove Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) from the state, Assam completely. During a meeting, the Chief Minister has confirmed its complete removal. According to the sources, the confirmation came after Assam CM met Union Home Minister at Delhi and presented the state’s peaceful areas in which AFSPA is imposed. Assam, mega tree plantation drive has started for creating another Guinness world record in the state, 3.5 lakhs saplings were distributed for the drive by Assam environment and forest minister Chandramohan Patowary. Asia Cup, 2023 ‘Super 4’ has began between India and Pakistan at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo which took place on Sunday but due to bad weather the match got pushed to another day. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged of ‘Skill Yatra’ for skill awareness programmes for Kamrup, Nalbari, Darang and Morigaon districts of Assam.   During the occasion, Sarma also announced about collaborating with Tata Technology for training youths over 2 Lakhs for technology advancement.
