The Mahakumbh Mela is drowning in a sea of vehicles. The queue of vehicles has exceeded at least 300 kilometers. Tired of waiting for a long time in heavy traffic, pilgrims are parking their cars on the road and walking. Netizens have called this unprecedented traffic jam the “world’s largest traffic jam”. It is known that the road leading to the Mahakumbh Mela through Madhya Pradesh has a queue of vehicles of 200-300 kilometers. On Sunday, the police stopped traffic in various districts, due to which many people had to be stuck on the roads for several hours.
The police stopped traffic in various districts of Madhya Pradesh and advised people to find safe shelter. In Katni district, it was announced from a police van that traffic has come to a standstill till Monday. On the other hand, the Maihar police had ordered all vehicles to return to Katni and Jabalpur. Several videos circulating on social media show a huge queue of thousands of cars and trucks on the roads of Katni, Jabalpur, Maihar, and Rewa districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Eyewitnesses claim that there is a 250-km long traffic jam from Katni to the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh border at Chakghat in Rewa district. Posting a video of the congestion, a commuter wrote on social media, “15 km traffic jam before Jabalpur. Prayagraj is still 400 km away. Please know the traffic situation before coming to Mahakumbh!” A person posted on X at around 4:30 am on Monday, writing, “I got stuck in probably the world’s biggest traffic jam (15-20 km) at Kumbh. Prayagraj is completely at a standstill.”
