At Assam’s Tezpur, President Droupadi Murmu takes maiden sortie in fighter jet

At the Tezpur air base in Assam on Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu flew her first fighter mission.
She was flown by Group Captain Naveen Kumar Tiwari in an Indian Air Force Sukhoi-30 MKI.
After finishing her 25-minute sortie, Murmu told reporters that it had “felt good.”  The President, who was also briefed on the aircraft’s operational capabilities, expressed pleasure with the Indian Air Force’s operational readiness. (IAF).
In the visitor’s book, President Murmu wrote, “I congratulate the Indian Air Force and the entire team of Air Force Station Tezpur for organising this sortie.”
It was simply stunning to observe the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, our Aadarniya Rashtrapati ji, do a sortie on the Sukhoi-30 MKI at Tezpur, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on Twitter. It is important to note the significance of this event occurring so near to the China-India border. On April 6, President Murmu travelled to Assam for a three-day visit. President Murmu opened the Gaj Utsav 2023 on Friday at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park. According to her comments, respecting nature is part of what makes India unique. Historically, nature and Indian culture have been intertwined.
