Assam’s Kokrajhar assembly session marks a historic moment for Bodoland region

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called the upcoming assembly session in Kokrajhar on February 17 a “high point” of his tenure. The session marks a historic milestone for the region, once at the heart of the Bodoland movement, and aims to promote inclusivity and decentralization.

In a social media announcement, Sarma attributed the achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “unwavering love for Assam” and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah. The assembly session will primarily focus on enhancing the administration of 6th Schedule areas, with the Governor’s address as the highlight.

Deputy Speaker Numal Momin emphasized the session’s role in fostering unity. “This session will bring together all communities in Assam,” Momin said, underscoring the state’s diversity and communal harmony.
