Two young innovators from Assam, Manas Kamal Choudhury and Ayusman Bora, have been invited to present their technological advancements at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) Asia 2026 in Singapore from February 2 to 4. Their startup has developed a groundbreaking next-generation operating system, integrated with advanced immersive technologies, placing them among nearly 80 global firms, including major players like Amazon and Meta. This invitation signifies a notable accomplishment for Assam and reflects India’s growing indigenous tech landscape, with the duo being among the first representatives from Northeast India at a prominent global technology platform.
Central to their innovation is an indigenous operating system, reportedly one of the first fully developed from scratch in India, with Manas contributing over 900,000 lines of code. This operating system supports diverse applications across defense, healthcare, railways, robotics, IoT, and multimedia production, as well as immersive wearable technologies like smart augmented-reality glasses, enhancing viewing experiences, navigation, and digital services access. The duo previously gained recognition at one of India’s largest tech festivals in September 2025 and received backing from investment firm Zerodha. In January, they were commended for their seminar presentation at a technology conference organized by NIT Karnataka, Mangaluru. They have established their company in Bengaluru and aim to expand operations and create job opportunities soon.
Manas (23), originally from Kandupur, is a unique talent: a fourth-year Hindustani Classical Music student at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, with a rich background in arts, animation, and music composition. He serves as the Founder, Chief Technical Officer, and Director of the startup. Ayusman (18), from Tezpur, is an engineering student at Manipal Institute of Technology, focusing on operations and public relations as the Co-founder, Director, and Chief Executive Officer. Their achievements illuminate a bright future for youth-led technological innovation emerging from Northeast India.
