DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahant said that criminal activities have reduced in Assam in the last year.
Earlier, criminal activity rate was 366 per lakh of the population which has now decreased to 200 cases per lakh of the population due to the strict actions taken by the police.
According to data released by the police, crimes against women have also come down to 12,034 cases in 2022, as against 29,046 cases in 2021 and an annual average of 27,240 cases during the period 2017-2021.
“This will improve the case ratio to 1.0 and thereby improve the quality of investigations and supervision. Further, the number of cases per investigating officer has come down to an average of 25 cases against 52 cases by the end of 2021,” the DGP said.
