Assam Police recovers demonetized notes from District Transport Officer

The vigilance wing of the Assam Police recovered Rs 87,000 worth of canceled notes after raiding the house of a District Transport Officer (DTO) on October 21.

The state’s Special Director-General of Police, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, said that the vigilance wing has launched a drive against alleged corruption in Dibrugarh DTO.

“Sanjeev Hazarika’s house was searched and unaccounted cash of ₹7.03 lakh and canceled notes of ₹87,000 were found,” he said.
