Assam Police foil infiltration attempt on Indo-Bangladesh border, two pushed back

Assam Police successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Karimganj, intercepting two Bangladeshi nationals, Shahadat Hussain and Priyanka Gain. The duo was apprehended during a routine patrol and pushed back across the border.

The operation, launched after receiving a tip-off, underscores Assam Police’s heightened vigilance in preventing cross-border infiltration. An investigation into the matter has been initiated, with further actions underway. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police force on X, urging continued vigilance to address the ongoing infiltration threat.

This incident follows a series of similar interceptions. Just last week, Assam Police detained five Bangladeshi nationals—Afroja Jahirul Sardar, Tumpa Haque, Ridoy Sk, Akhi Sk, and Lakhipur Akhtar—during a night operation and deported them. On August 28, another attempt was foiled when Karimganj police intercepted and pushed back three more Bangladeshi nationals.
