Assam Man Held for Cheating Arunachal Woman in Online Fraud

Arunachal Pradesh Police apprehended Soribuddin Ahmed from Kutubpur in Bihpuria, Assam’s Lakhimpur district, on allegations of online fraud involving the deception of a woman. Posing as a trader named “MD Ashiqul Alom,” Ahmed offered iron rods at unusually low prices, enticing the victim to transfer Rs 90,000 as an advance payment. However, he failed to fulfill the order, prompting the woman’s complaint. The arrest was executed by Inspector Gejum Basar and his team from Papu Hills police station. Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega issued a public advisory urging individuals to exercise caution during online transactions, to refrain from making advance payments to unfamiliar sellers, and to report any instances of cyber fraud to the Cyber Helpline at 1930.
