Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday claimed that Assam Police had identified and prevented 30 suspected illegal infiltrators from entering India.
In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister praised the state’s security vigilance and credited the police for intercepting the individuals. Referring to Goddess Durga, Sarma wrote, “Mahishasur Mardini at the borders. With the blessings of Maa Durga, 30 illegal infiltrators have been identified by Assam Police and prevented from entering Bharat with their nefarious intentions.”
He further stated that security agencies remain vigilant at the state’s borders at all times. “Each day, each occasion, we remain alert on our borders,” he added.
However, the Chief Minister did not provide details regarding the location where the individuals were intercepted, their identities, nationality, or the timing of the operation. No information was shared on the circumstances surrounding the alleged infiltration attempt.
Sarma has on several occasions highlighted the efforts of Assam Police in preventing alleged illegal entry across the state’s international borders. In September as well, he had claimed that law enforcement agencies stopped groups of people attempting to enter the country illegally.
The latest statement comes amid the Assam government’s continued focus on border surveillance and measures against alleged illegal immigration. No details regarding further legal or administrative action against the detained individuals were disclosed.
