The Assam Excise Department has officially launched an online licensing system, known as the Assam Excise Revenue Management System (AERMS), allowing citizens to apply for all excise-related licenses online. This announcement was made by State Excise Minister Atul Bora during a meeting held on Wednesday. The Assam government is also focusing on improving monitoring at the district level to enhance efficiency within the excise department. Minister Bora led a review meeting in Guwahati with Excise Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, and Inspectors from across the state to evaluate recent departmental progress. During this meeting, concerns regarding the illegal production and circulation of liquor were raised, which the Minister described as significant threats to public health and sources of considerable revenue loss for the state. The discussions included detailed data analysis, identifying implementation shortcomings, and issuing corrective measures. Minister Bora emphasized the importance of strict rule enforcement and the diligent execution of departmental duties. The meeting also saw participation from other senior officials, including Excise Department Secretaries Adil Khan, Neera Doulagupu, and Commissioner Jitu Doley.
