The Vedanta Group has come forward to support Assam with a donation of Rs 7 crore for flood relief and rehabilitation work.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his appreciation for the contribution made by Vedanta Group and its Chairman Anil Agarwal.
In a post on X, the CM said Agarwal has long been a partner in Assam’s growth journey and the group has made major investments in the state.
“As Assam battles this severe flood, Vedanta has once again extended help with Rs 7 crore for relief and rehabilitation,” Sarma wrote.
He added that the donation reflects Vedanta’s commitment to society and its solidarity with the people of Assam during difficult times.
The Rs 7 crore has been handed over to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The amount will be used for immediate relief such as food, drinking water and shelter, as well as for long-term rehabilitation of flood-hit families.
Relief teams are currently working in affected areas, distributing dry ration kits and safe drinking water to families.
The group said it will continue to stand with the people of Assam and lauded the work of frontline workers engaged in rescue and relief operations.
