The Raijor Dal has finalized its candidates for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, with nominations announced for several significant constituencies throughout the state. The list, approved by the party’s election committee, includes party president Akhil Gogoi contesting from Sivasagar and Pradip Kumar Baruah from Kaliabor. Additional nominees are Abul Mia (Gauripur), Abdur Basid Mondal (East Goalpara), Anjan Talukdar (Manas), Azizur Rahman (Dalgaon), Mehboob Muktar (Dhing), Alok Nath (Tezpur), Dulal Chandra Baruah (Sissiborgaon), Rahul Chettri (Margherita), Dulal Moran (Digboi), and Gyanashree Bora (Moriani). The candidate for Bokakhat will be revealed on March 22.
In an arrangement with the Indian National Congress, Raijor Dal has secured 13 constituencies as part of a broader opposition seat-sharing strategy. Gogoi confirmed that this list is conclusive, nullifying the previous candidates not included in this final selection. He acknowledged the tough decisions made, aiming to strengthen opposition unity against the Bharatiya Janata Party and its affiliates. This announcement aligns with ongoing efforts by opposition groups to solidify their strategy leading up to the elections in Assam.
