Assam Cricket Association (ACA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Guwahati on Tuesday, led by president Taranga Gogoi.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia graced the occasion as the special invitee.
The meeting was attended by ACA secretary Sanatan Das, vice president Romen Dutta, joint secretary Rajendra Singh, treasurer Anupam Deka, members of the Apex Council, Mukutananda Bhattacharjya, and representatives from all affiliated district units.
During the AGM, members approved the Secretary’s Report for 2025–26, adopted the Treasurer’s Report and audited accounts for the same period, and passed the annual budget for 2026–27.
The appointment of the auditor for the new financial year was also confirmed. Justice Manojit Bhuyan, Retired Judge of the Gauhati High Court, was appointed as the Ombudsman Cum Ethics Officer.
The AGM also observed a one-minute silence in remembrance of former State cricketer, Mukut Das, APL Umpire Panel member, Sonjit Das and other pioneering figures of Assam cricket who have passed away. The members paid tribute to their valuable contributions to the development of cricket in the state.
The meeting also deliberated on various aspects of the development of cricket in Assam, including player performances, ongoing projects, infrastructure development, player welfare and future plans for strengthening the state’s cricketing ecosystem.
Discussions also focused on enhancing grassroots cricket, strengthening coaching and youth development programmes, and creating greater opportunities for players across different levels.
New APL Governing Council:
As part of the AGM proceedings, the APL Governing Council for the 2026–27 term was constituted, with Premananda Saikia and Nasir Gul Khan inducted as members for a one-year term.
The AGM reaffirmed ACA’s focus on grassroots development, strengthening coaching and youth talent identification programmes, enhancing player opportunities, and accelerating infrastructure development across the state.
With the continued support of its affiliated members, district units, players, coaches and cricketing fraternity, the Assam Cricket Association reiterated its commitment to the sustained growth and development of cricket in the State.
