The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will launch its new campaign “Raijor Padulit Raijor Congress” (People’s Congress at the People’s Doorstep) on December 6 in Dibrugarh, with the goal of reconnecting with grassroots groups and gathering public feedback across the politically heated state. The event will take place both on the ground and via digital media, with APCC president Gaurav Gogoi and senior leaders in attendance. Bhupen Bora will lead the campaign efforts, while Debabrata Saikia will coordinate them.
The campaign revolves around a statewide initiative in which residents’ aspirations are collected through specially built Aspiration Boxes. The entries will come from a variety of groups, including tea garden workers, farmers, women’s collectives, self-help groups (SHGs), students, and rural communities. MP Pradyut Bordoloi, Chairperson of the platform Committee, will oversee the process of incorporating the inputs into the party’s Vision Document and the 2026 election platform. Party workers and top officials will also submit entries to demonstrate communal ownership of the effort.
Following its launch, the Aspiration Boxes campaign will deploy over 3,000 boxes across Assam in public spaces to gather citizen voices. Starting in Dibrugarh, it aims to expand throughout all 35 districts as part of an effort by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) to address public dissatisfaction with the BJP government. Concerns include unresolved issues such as low daily wages for tea workers, demands for ST status, stalled women’s empowerment initiatives, and poor rural health access. The campaign, spearheaded by MP Rakibul Hussain and managed by senior leader Ripun Bora, seeks to reflect the public’s priorities leading up to the next Assembly elections.
