Assam CM Warns Against Dangerous Calls to Sever Northeast from India

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has condemned comments made by a segment of Bangladeshi leaders, particularly Hasnat Abdullah of the National Citizen Party, advocating for the merger of India’s Northeast with Bangladesh. Sarma characterized these statements as “”irresponsible and dangerous,”” asserting that India will not remain silent on such provocations. He noted that over the past year, there have been recurring calls from Bangladesh suggesting the separation of Northeast India to align with Bangladesh, which he addressed during a program in Lumding.
