Assam CM supports the “Nation First” vision while empowering women entrepreneurs in Dhubri

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday disbursed financial assistance to women entrepreneurs in Dhubri under the state’s flagship Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), reinforcing his commitment to inclusive development and the ‘Nation First’ principle. The event took place in a constituency considered politically challenging for the ruling party, where the Congress had recorded a decisive victory by nearly 10 lakh votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Addressing the beneficiaries, Dr. Sarma stated, “This is Dhubri — where most people are not our traditional voter base, and Congress won by 10 lakh votes in 2024. Yet for us, it’s always Nation First.”

Under the MMUA, beneficiaries received ₹10,000 as seed capital in the first installment to kickstart their ventures. Those who successfully utilize the fund will become eligible for a second installment of ₹25,000, combining a government grant and a bank loan at subsidized interest. A third installment of up to ₹50,000 will be provided to expand successful enterprises.

Officials emphasized that the scheme was implemented without political or religious bias, highlighting the government’s focus on equitable empowerment for all communities.Designed to transform members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) into sustainable micro-entrepreneurs, the MMUA targets an annual income of at least ₹1 lakh per beneficiary. The initiative seeks to strengthen women’s economic independence, promote local entrepreneurship, and foster a self-reliant rural economy through women-led enterprises.
