Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a preparatory meeting on Wednesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh, involving various ministers, MLAs, and senior officials to review the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Namrup on December 21. Modi, during his visit to Assam on December 20 and 21, is set to inaugurate the new terminal building at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Borjhar, Guwahati, and unveil a statue of the esteemed Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi. Furthermore, he will lay the foundation for a significant ammonia-urea project in Namrup, valued at approximately Rs 12,000 crore with an expected production capacity of 12 lakh metric tonnes, and is scheduled to address a public rally.
During the stock-taking meeting, Chief Minister Sarma provided a series of directives to facilitate seamless arrangements for all events linked to the Prime Minister’s visit, emphasizing security protocols. He instructed the administration to ensure the availability of light refreshments, drinking water, and hygienic facilities for the public attendees, as well as proper traffic control, parking solutions, and primary medical care services.
The meeting saw participation from various ministers including Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, Power Minister Prasanta Phukan, Industries and Commerce and Public Enterprises Minister Bimal Borah, Cooperation Minister Jogen Mohan, and Labour Welfare Minister Rupesh Gowala, alongside numerous MLAs and senior officials, including Chief Secretary Ravi Kota. Additionally, Chief Minister Sarma previously visited Namrup to inspect the venue for the public meeting and convened with the involved officials, reviewing the arrangements meticulously and issuing necessary instructions to assure the event’s smooth execution.
